46 - TOURNAMENT RECORD! - Tusky 1st Team To Score 100 Points In A Game (2-12-46)

DOVER - With 1,175 paid admissions looking on, Head Coach Jim Rogers' Tuscarawas Broncos set the tournament scoring record and also temporarily broke the automatic score board...it began smoking right after the Broncos hit the 102 mark and had to be fixed.  In addition, the hand operated scoreboard ran out of figures.

Coach Rogers used his 1st string only about half the game, but couldn't stop any of them from shooting and the score just ran up and up until it passed the century mark just before the game ended.

The Tuscarawas Broncos (1-0) (26-27) (17-2) rocketed to a 26-1 advantage in the 1st quarter on their way to a 102-23 slaughter of the Stone Creek Golden Panthers (0-1) (11-25) (0-17).  The Broncos only scored 20 points in the 2nd period maintaining a massive 39-point lead 46-7 at intermission.  Tusky then scored another 20 points in the 3rd stanza 66-16 and the bench managed 36 points in the final quarter.

Senior Fred Walton, Tuscarawas center, dented the nets 14 times from action and 3 times from the free throw line for a total of 31 points to wrap up scoring honors for the night.  Senior forwards John Vesco and Bob French followed Walton with 13 and 10 markers, respectively.  Don Arbogast managed 9 points for the Golden Panthers.
