37 - Sugarcreek-Shanesville Wallops Baltic 25-18 (2-27-37)









The Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirates:  Front - Cliff Moomaw, John Harmon, Paul Andrews, Walter Drake and Harold Gonter.  Back - Don Shepfer, Head Coach Earl Sundheimer, Junior Miller, Arden Miller, Manager Virgil Keim, Quentin Burkey, Don Hershberger (missing in picture) and Don Ridle.




The Baltic Eagles:  Front - Ken Zimmerman, Wilson Eckert, Dick Regula, Ward Lahm and Harry Regula.  Back - Manager Bill Leland, Andy Gerber, Bob Lint, Don Ruprich, Walter Swihart, Head Coach Paul Sheetz, Ken Burger and Assistant Manager Bill Domer.



DOVER - The Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirates (2-1) (24-14) eliminated the Baltic Eagles (2-2) (12-18) 25-18 in 2nd Consolation game played on Saturday afternoon.  The Eagles failed to score a single field goal in the 1st half of their game with the Pirates, led by Senior guard John Harmon, as Sugarcreek-Shanesville coasted to victory.

In the very 1st quarter, the Pirates' defense held the Eagles scoreless and led 10-0.  The 2nd quarter didn't get much better for Baltic as Sugarcreek-Shanesville ran the score to 16-2.  The Eagles picked up a bit scoring 8 points in the 3rd stanza, while the Pirates only had 2 points, but still leading 18-10.  Both teams scored 8 points in the 4th giving the victory to Sugarcreek-Shanesville.

Harmon garnered game honors with 10 points (3 field goals and 4 free throws) for the Pirates, while his teammate, Senior forward Cliff Moomaw, added an additional 8 points (2 field goals and 4 free throws).  Baltic was led by Junior center Dick Regula with 8 points (2 field goals and 4 foul shots).
