37 - Strasburg Hands Gnaden 14 Point Loss 41-27 (2-20-37)

Strasburg's brand new High School - Home of the Mighty Strasburg Tigers!

Strasburg Tigers'Junior forward Paul "Pete" Haswell gained game honors with 11 points (4 field goals and 3 free throws).  CAUGHT RED HANDED:  Pete has a habit of throwing his shoes thru an upstairs window when his aim is bad.

DOVER - A close 1st half put the Strasburg Tigers (1-0) (36-8) face to face with a possible upset in their game with the Gnadenhutten Indians (1-1) (15-16), but the Tigers rose to the challenge and played almost flawless ball in the 2nd half to win a 41-27 victory.

The Indians refused to accept defeat and Strasburg was leading by only 12-7 at the 1st quarter and 19-17 as halftime rolled around.  Personal fouls threatened to riddle the Tigers' team, but Gnaden couldn't keep up and Strasburg was away to a 35-21 lead at the 3rd period.  Both teams scored 6 points in the 4th quarter.

Junior forward John Miller, Sophomore guard Lloyd Haas and Junior guard Charles Reiger all were ejected on personals late in the final period.  Haswell's 11 points were high for the winners, while Sophomore forward Leland Goettge piled up 10 points (3 field goals and 4 free throws) for the losers.
