37 - Sectional Tournament Class B Drawings For 9 Teams








DOVER - Drawings for the Sectional Class B Basketball Tournament which will be held at Legion Hall on Thursday, Friday and Saturday to qualify 2 teams for the District Tournament at Dennison the following week, will be held at the high school tomorrow at 7PM, it was announced today by D.C. Lemmon, Principal of Dover High School and Tournament Manager.  Nine teams...5 from Tuscarawas County, 3 from Holmes County and 1 from Carroll County...will participate in the tournament which will, according to present plans, be played down to a Sectional Champion.

Teams entered are:

TUSCARAWAS COUNTY

Dennison Railroaders
Dover St. Joseph Ramblers
Midvale Blue Devils
Strasburg Tigers
Tuscarawas Broncos

HOLMES COUNTY

Berlin Hawks
Millersburg Knights
Walnut Creek Cardinals

CARROLL COUNTY

Magnolia Panthers

Whether or not the teams will be seeded will be decided at the drawings tomorrow night, Mr Lemmon said.  Seeding was followed last year for the 1st time and all but Tuscarawas County teams were eliminated in the 1st round.  The schedule, as tentatively arranged, called for the tournament to open with 3 games on Thursday night and close with 2 games Saturday night.  A preliminary between the Dover High School's intra-mural league is to precede the Championship contest.

Jimmy Morgan of New Philadelphia and Bud Miller of Beach City will officiate.  Admission will be 25 and 35 cents each session.
