32 - Strasburg, League Champs, Gets By Baltic 37-25 (2-25-32)

DOVER - The Strasburg Tigers (1-0) (20-5), for the 2nd year undefeated in the county league pennant race, apparently had the game with the Baltic Eagles (0-1) (2-7) tucked away in the victory pocket last night as the teams left the floor at halftime.  The Tigers held a 20-9 lead and several of the customers donned wraps and started homeward.  But, they overlooked the fighting hearts of the Eagle boys. The best team Baltic has sent to the county tournament in years went into the 3rd quarter with a rush and quickly got within striking distance of the leaders.  They fought with never failing fury until the final gun and sensational shooting by Freshman forward Paul Levengood, Senior center Owen Scheetz and Junior forward Harold Huprich several times threatened to turn the tide.  It was a noble effort by a team generally considered not to have a chance with the crack Strasburg aggregation.  The Tigers led all the way...12-6 in the 1st quarter, 20-9 at the half, 26-18 ending the 3rd quarter and finally tucking away the victory at 37-25.  Senior forward John Studer of Strasburg led all scorers with 13 points, 4 field goals and 5 foul tosses, while Levengood led Baltic with 11 points, 5 field goals and a foul shot.
