DOVER - Five Tuscarawas County Class B teams drew worthy opponents for the Sectional Tournament on Friday and Saturday at Legion Hall. The pairings were made here last night under the supervision of E. W. Blackstone, tourney manager. The Strasburg Tigers, tourney winner, drew Yorkville of Jefferson County. The Newcomerstown Trojans drew the Scio Panthers; the Dennison Railroaders were paired with Adena, while the Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirates meets Delroy and the Dover St. Joseph Ramblers drew Carrollton.
Four teams will qualify here this weekend for the District Class B event on March 11-12 at Dennison and the games will be 'sandwiched' between District finals in Class A. Four Class B teams of this District will also qualify at Caldwell for the District finals. Pairings will be made there tonight. The Class B Sectional opens here Friday at 7PM. Three games are slated for the 1st session.
The tournament re-opens at 8AM Saturday with 3 games in the morning and 3 in the afternoon. Four are scheduled for Saturday night, beginning at 6PM. The only county teams which have a chance of meeting each other are Strasburg and Newcomerstown and Sugarcreek-Shanesville and Dennison. If all 4 win their 1st games, Strasburg will play the Trojans and Dennison will face the Pirates. Following are the pairings for the Sectional Class B event here Friday and Saturday.
