DENNISON - The Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirates (5-1) drew Bethesda and the Strasburg Tigers (5-0) picked Byesville at the Dennison drawings last night for the Class B District finals this Friday and Saturday. Tuscarawas County's Class B representatives are in separate brackets and if each wins 2 games they will repeat their court classic of the county tournament with higher laurals at stake...the Class B title of the Eastern District.
Sugarcreek and Bethesda will open the District Tournament at Dennison on Friday at 12PM. Strasburg plays Byesville at 8PM Friday. Malvern drew Bellaire St. John's for 2PM Friday and Millersburg is paired with New Concord, probably the strongest team to qualify at the New Concord Sectional event at 4PM Friday.
The upper bracket semi-final slated for 10AM Saturday, will find winners of the Sugarcreek-Bethesda and Malvern-Bellaire St. John's games competing for the right to enter the final at 7:30PM Saturday. The lower bracket semi-final, between winners of the Millersburg-New Concord and Strasburg-Byesville games, will be played at 11AM Saturday.
