32 - Strasburg In Close Win Vs Newcomerstown 19-17 (3-5-32)

DOVER - The Strasburg Tigers (5-0) fought back the Newcomerstown Trojans in a close 19-17 game at Legion Hall.  Sophomore forward John Studer, Strasburg's 'Deadeye Dick' had 3 personal fouls called on him in the first 5 minutes of the Newcomerstown game, but steered clear of the 4th until there was only 3 minutes of the game left to play.  He was tempted many times...times when it would have paid to foul his man...but held himself in check.  Those fouls ruined countless chances he might have taken to score.  The Tigers jumped out front 9-2 in the 1st quarter, held only a 3-point lead by the half 12-9.  By the time the 3rd period ended, Strasburg had increased their lead to 6 points, 17-11.  The Trojans saved their best effort for the last quarter as they roared back, but failed as the minutes ran out and the horn sounded.  Senior forward Bill Yates led the victors with 3 field goals and 1 free throw for 7 points.  Newcomerstown was led by Everett McElhaney as he also had 3 field goals and a free throw for 7 markers.
