32 - Dundee Roughs Up Mineral City 24-18 (2-26-32)










DOVER - The Dundee Bulldogs (1-0) (6-9) defeated the Mineral City Tigers (0-1) (2-10) in a wild, rough contest in the 1st game of the county tournament program at Legion Hall last night.  The score was 24-18 and the winners were forced to come from behind in the 4th period to win out.  Forward Baker's foul toss at the start of the final chukker knotted the score at 17 and Dundee never fell behind thereafter.  The sterling work of Baker, who tallied 11 points, kept the victors in the running.

Five players were banished on personal fouls, forward Fetters, center I. Snyder and guard E. Rice of the Bulldogs and center Martin and guard H. Williams of the Tigers.  Referee Earl Gross called 20 fouls on the victors and 21 on Mineral City.  Twenty-two of the total points scored were chalked up from the free throw line.  Dundee was ahead 7-4 in the 1st quarter, Mineral City then took the lead at 15-10 by the half and maintained the lead in the 3rd quarter 17-16.  Baker led the Bulldogs in scoring with 2 field goals and 7 foul tosses for 11 points.  The Tigers were led by Riggle who dropped in 1 field goal and 4 free throws for 6 points. The victory entitled Dundee to meet Strasburg in the 1st semi-final game this afternoon.
