38 - Strasburg Skates-By Port 55-12 (2-18-38)

Strasburg Tigers Senior Forward Paul "Pete" Haswell hit the hoops for 13 points leading his team in a romp over the Port Washington Purple Riders 55-12 and gaining game honors along with teammate Maurice Bayer.  (If athletics were music, he would be a whole brass band.)

Strasburg Tigers Junior Center Maurice Bayer also earned game honors as he poured in another 13 points in the slam against the Purple Riders.

DOVER - In the 2nd game of the night, the Strasburg Tigers (1-0) (39-8) with their high-powered combination experienced great difficulty in gettng underway against a stubborn Port Washington Purple Riders (0-1) (4-16) outfit in the 1st period, but then went on to roll up the score and limit the Port tossers to only 2 field goals in the entire 2nd half.

Missing many shosts, the Tigers moved evenly with the Purple Riders in the 1st quarter with both teams scoring 6 points.  The Burgers began to pull away in the 2nd and led 22-8 at the halftime rest.  Port was held scoreless in the 3rd quarter and Strasburg then held a lead of 39-8 at the start of the final chukker.  Junior Maurice Bayer, a substitute center and Senior forward Paul "Pete" Haswell, Tiger ace, took scoring honors with 13 points apiece with Senior forward Gene Ludwig of Port Washington leading his team with 8 points in a losing cause.
