38 - Bolivar Downs Tusky 34-26 (2-19-38)

Bolivar Cardinals Forward Glen Lebold picks up game honors leading his team to a 34-26 victory over the Tuscarawas Broncos scoring 6 field goals for 12 points.

DOVER - The Bolivar Cardinals (1-0) (21-14) who tote around a reputation for coming "up" along about tournament time appeared to be keeping up the tradition as they turned back the Tuscarawas Broncos (0-1) (9-17) 34-26.  The latter, considered one of the better teams in the loop at the start of the season, clung right with the Cardinals during the 1st half, but slipped in the 3rd quarter and never regained footing.

Second-year Head Coach Harold Peterson's victory was held to a 6-6 tie at the 1st quarter and a 14-14 deadlock at halftime before they succeeded in pulling away from the stubborn combination put on the floor by 10th-year Head Coach Charmis Davis.  In the 3rd stanza Bolivar outscored Tusky 12-5 to catch hold of a 26-19 lead and then added another point to their final margin in the 4th quarter.

Forward Glen Lebold led the Cardinal attack with 12 points, while forward Justin Huth and guard Jack Ross each contributed 8 markers.  Leading Tuscarawas was Junior forward Earl Johnson hitting the hoops for 8 markers and Seniors center Chuck Cardani and guard Alex Bonvechio each rounded out the heavy scoring with 7 points.
