36 - Tusky And Veigel Brothers Downs Mineral City 30-18 (2-21-36)

Tuscarawas Broncos Junior Center Lester Veigel gains game honors by scoring 15 points.

Tuscarawas Broncos Senior Forward Allen Veigel follows up his brother with another 11 points.

DOVER - The Tuscarawas Broncos (1-0) (7-13) beat down a fast attacking Mineral City Tigers (0-1) (6-15) combination 30-18.  Tusky's 12-point disposal of the Tigers' speedy and hard passing quintet was done in a very workman-like manner with Lester Veigel and his brother Allen directing.  Between them they accounted for 26 of the Broncos' 30 points.

The Bronco brothers scored every one of the 17 points the winners had when the 1st half ended 17-8.  Mineral City made its big bid in the final quarter and scored on even terms with the Broncos with each team racking up 9 points.  Big and rangy, the Tuscarawas combination used its superior height to every advantage and frequently merely passed over the heads of its smaller opponents.

Lester was the high individual scorer with 15 points (6 field goals and 3 free throws).  Allen had 11 points (5 field goals and a free throw).  The Tigers were led by guard Louis Smitley with 6 points (2 field goals and 2 free throws) and forward Bob Markham with 5 points (2 field goals and a free throw).
