36 - Strasburg Trashes Stone Creek 36-17 (2-28-36)

Strasburg Tigers Junior Center Ramon Renner takes game honors by scoring 15 points in support of the 36-17 victory over the Stone Creek Panthers.

DOVER - Toying with the Stone Creek Panthers (2-2) (3-7), the "wonder team" of the Annual Class B Tournament, the Strasburg Tigers qualified for the semi-final games today by copping an easy 36-17 triumph in the only Consolation contest last night.

The Tigers, former Champions of the B circuit, had things all their own way from the start.  They held the Panthers to 3 points in the entire 1st half, leading 11-2 and 25-3 at the period ends.  At the start of the 2nd half, Head Coach Paul Roby sent his Reserve Team into the fray and kept it there for the remainder of the time.  They kept pace with Stone Creek and led 29-12 at the close of the 3rd period.

Junior Ramon Renner, Tiger center, hooked 5 action shots into the nettings and sent 5 fouls through te hoop to lead the scoring with 15 points.  Forward Frank Ellwood was high for the Panthers with 6 points (3 field goals).

Sugarcreek-Shanesville and Bolivar have met twice this season and their 3rd game at 9PM tonight for the Championship, is a saw-off, promising to be one of the feature basketball performances of the county's entire season.

In a League fracas at Sugarcreek early on the schedule, the Pirates thumped the Cardinals 46-40.  In the 2nd half of the season, in a non-league game, Bolivar turned the tables and handed the Pirates a 40-25 trouncing on the Bolivar boards. (Clyde Shaffer, The Daily Reporter)
