34 - Sattler Cages 16 As Mineral City Downs Baltic 43-16 (2-17-34)

DOVER - With Bill "Legs" Sattler its center, towering above all in both height and scoring, the Mineral City Tigers (1-0) (3-11) had little difficulty in disposing of a smaller Baltic Eagle (0-1) (4-9) team in a 1st round game Saturday afternoon.  The score was 43-16.  Sattler accounted for 16 of the Tiger points.  Mineral City maintained a fast clip the entire game.  A margin of 20-1 was chalked up in the 1st quarer as the Eagles played spirited basketball in a vain attempt to overcome the Tigers advantage.  Baltic was again held without a basket in the 2nd quarter, while Mineral city scored 6 points, the score standing at 26-2.

A changed Baltic offense was noted on the floor the 2nd half.  Long shots were attempted with forward Adian Hummel scoring 4 field goals, along with guard Bob Gerber and forward Harry Lower picking up another field goal each and the score standng at 26-14.  The 3rd quarter was 33-14.  Out of the game in the 3rd period, Sattler returned in the 4th to tally 3 more buckets from the pivot position.  Tiger forward Bill Fishley, too, was with 8 points.  Hummel was high for Baltic with 9 points.  Baltic's long shooting in the last 2 quarters was wild, due to the close coverage set up by Mineral City.
