34 - Dundee Beats The Clock Against Stone Creek 32-30 (2-17-3)









DOVER - With timely rallies, the Dundee Bulldogs (1-0) (8-11) eliminated the Stone Creek Panthers (0-1) (0-2) from regular tournament play by a score of 32-30 in a 1st round game Saturday afternoon.  A vigorous drive in the last quarter netted the victory for Head Coach Glen Jones' Bulldogs after they had trailed most of the game.

Stone Creek gained a lead of 12-2 in the 1st quarter as the game appeared a walkaway.  The score stood 20-11 at the half.  Dundee lessened the breach in the 3rd quarter when the score was changed to 26-20.  Then came the last quarter spurt.  The Bulldogs tied the count and then gained a 2-basket lead.  The Panthers fought back fiercely, 1st tying the score and trying to force the game into an overtime period.  With a few seconds to play, Senior Paul Baker, Dundee forward, hit the winning basket.

Baker and his running mate, forward Sam Fetters, were high scorers for the Bulldogs with 8 points each, while Senior Paul Wherley and Ed Pfeiffer, Stone Creek forwards, scored 7 points each.  The game was the most thrilling of the afternoon, holding the aroused interest of the spectators from the start of the 2nd half to the end.
