27 - Strasburg Gets By Dundee 21-17 (2-25-27)

SUGARCREEK - The Strasburg Tigers (1-0) (8-3) defeated the Dundee Bulldogs (0-1) (0-5) in the 2nd game of the Tuscarawas County Class B Basketball Tournament held at the Community Hall in Sugarcreek on Friday night.  The remaining games in the tournament are being played on the Dover American Legion floor today (Saturday).

Strasburg upset the dope by rocking Dundee.  The latter team was a favorite to win over the Tigers, but the Franklin-township squadron held Dundee almost helpless throughout the game.  The Strasburg team held sway from the beginning and led at every quarter.  Dundee outscored Strasburg in number of field goals made, but free shots pulled Strasburg to the front and gave them their 1st tournament victory.  Dundee scored 6 field goals, while Strasburg caged only five.  The Tigers led the Bulldogs the entire route, beginning in the 1st period with a 6-4 lead.  They increased that to a lead of 8-5 in the 2nd quarter, then made  it 15-8 and victory in the 3rd period.  Deems and Huth were the scoring stars for the Strasburg aggregation with 9 and 6 points.  Seniors Walter Neidenthal and Walter Mizer followed up with 4 and 2 points.  Juniors Lester Price and Glen Wilds were the scoring guns for Dundee with 9 and 4 marks, while Walter and Haager finished out the scoring with 3 and 1.
