26 - Sugarcreek-Shanesville Rips Gnadenhutten 24-13 (2-26-26)











Gnadenhutten Indians 1926 Basketball Team.  Front:  Mr. Samuel Erskine (Assistant Coach) - Paul Kennedy - Russell Bennett - Paul Schreiner (Captain) - Clarence Uhrich - Elmer Dichler and Mr. Russell Kinsey (Manager).  Back:  Ralph Bennett - Walter Begland - Don Hamilton - Earl Kohl - Mr. Grant Dumbauld (Head Coach) - Bill Helter - Ben Pfeiffer and Gleen Gilmore.


DOVER - In the 1st afternoon semi-final Sugarcreek (2-0) (5-1) defeated Gnadenhutten (1-1) (3-3) and won the right to play in the finals during the evening.  Moomaw, a forward, starred in the semi-final for Sugarcreek by dropping thru 7 field goals for a total of 14 points.  Sophomore forward Harlan Sliffe the other Sugarcreek scoring ace added 5 points to his teams total by caging 2 field goals and adding a foul shot.  Junior center Bob Neff added 4 more points and Sophomoe guard Stan Miller added another point to round out the Pirate scoring.  Junior forward Paul Kennedy led Gnaden with 3 field goals for 6 points.  Senior center Russ Bennett had a field goal and 2 foul shots for 4 points and Senior forward Elmer Dichler had a field goal and a foul shot for 3 more points ending the Indian scoring.
