36 - Sugarcreek-Shanesville Slams Holmesville 70-19 (3-6-36)

DOVER - As the 70-19 score indicates, the Holmesville Bears, runner-up to the Walnut Creek Cardinals in the Holmes County League, was no match for the Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirates (3-1) whose score is the largest in tournament history here.

The Pirates started early and stayed late.  Despite the 3-1 lead, Head Coach Earl Sundheimer kept his 1st team in until the last few minutes of play.  Sugarcreek-Shanesville blasted off to a 14-3 lead early in the 1st quarter, continued with swift speed to make the score 31-10 by halftime.  There was no slowing down in the 3rd quarter as the scoreboard screamed 45-16.  There was no halt to the scoring antics of the Pirates as they rimed another 25 points in the 4th and final stanza.

Senior forward Dallas Hamsher and Junior forward Cliff Moomaw each scored 16 points (7 field goals and 2 free throws and 6 field goals and 4 free throws) as they both shared game honors for their feat for the Pirates.  Center Paul Andreas hit the 12 point mark (5 field goals and 2 free throws) and Sophomore Walter Drake ringed 10 points (4 field goals and 2 free throws) closing out the Pirate double figures scoring.  For the bewildered Bears, forward Inks was high with 7 points (3 baskets and 1 foul toss).  He scored 3 of this team's 6 field goals.  Sugarcreek-Shanesville made a total of 29 field goals.
