36 - Sectional Tournament Update

DOVER - Four Tuscarawas County Class B teams will fight it out in the Sectional Tournament finals at Legion Hall tonight to decide which 2 will qualify for the District Tournament meet at Dennison nex week.

The Midvale Blue Devils, which avenged a former defeat by pulling an A-1 upset on the Bolivar Cardinals last night, will play the rangy Dennison outfit at 8PM and the Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirates and Dover St. Joseph's Ramblers, also winners last night, will tangel at 9PM.  Midvale guarding closely, snatching passes anywhere, shooting dead to the hoop, turned back the county champion Bolivar team 32-18.  Dover St. Joseph's pulled the other surprise.  It nosed out the strong Delroy team from Carroll County 27-26 after trailing in the 1st half.  Sugarcreek-Shanesville stifled a weakened Holmesville Bears aggregation under the super-lopsided score of 70-19.

More than 700 attended the 2nd session of the Sectional last night, according to E.W. Blackstone, Tournament Manager.  Referees are Raymond Scherer of Coshocton and J.R. Robinson of Canton.
