DOVER - Four players hit double figures as the Midvale Blue Devils (2-1) (11-10) (68-31) repeated its task of whipping the young Tuscarawas Broncos (1-2) (2-19) (47-46) last night at Dover's Memorial Hall. Head Coach Pete Hilliard's cagers dropped the Broncos into the Consolation Division bracket the 1st night of tournament action by a 97-55 score and had little trouble eliminating Tusky 89-69 from the tournament altogether Saturday night.
Senior forward Dick Leggett and Senior guard John Colombo paced the Blue Devils to a 24-15 first quarter lead and then well-rounded scoring of 5 players pushed Midvale to a 46-30 half time margin. Once again 5 players found the loop as the winners rolled to a big 69-44 edge going into the final canto before wrapping up the verdict with Reserves dotting the lineup.
Leggett ended the contest with 23 points for Game Honors, while Colombo had 22. Senior Lonnie Wolfe and Junior Russ Hobart each potted 13 markers to aid the winning cause of the Diablos. Sophomore guard Tom Vesco tallied 22 points and Freshman spark Gary Caviness, a guard, chimed in with 17 and Senior forward Ed Hill 15 to pace the Blue and White in a losing effort.
