DOVER - The Midvale Blue Devils (4-1) (13-10) (70-31) unleashed a potent scoring attack that saw 4 players tallying in double figures and the Blue Devils were never in trouble after 6-4 Sophomore forward Ben Price of Mineral City, star for the Tuscarawas Valley Trojans (2-2) (17-6) (2-2), fouled out early in the 3rd stanza. With Senior forward Lonnie Wolfe leading the way on 4 straight long shots the defending Tournament Champions romped to a big 17-9 first quarter lead and then the sharp-shooting Wolfe continued his torrid pace and led his teammates to a big 43-28 intermission margin.
Senior guard John Colombo took up the slack in the 3rd period and hit for 15 points to pace Midvale to a staggering 71-42 lead going into the final canto. The Reserves finished out the contest and still hit for 25 more points in posting the lopsided victory over a "cool" Trojan quintet.
Colombo ended the tilt with 30 points to take Game Honors, while Wolfe followed with 19, Senior forward Dick (Dandy) Leggett 18 and 6-2 Junior center Russ Hobart 15. In posting the impressive victory the Diablos established themselves as a definite threat in the coming Sectional joust; although, holding a mediocre record.
