49 - Stone Creek Drops Port In 4th Quarter Surge 50-46 (2-19-49)

DENNISON - Port Washington joined Baltic, Strasburg and Dundee on the inactive list as the Port Washington Purple Riders (1-2) (7-11) (14-38) were eliminated by the Stone Creek Golden Panthers (2-1) (13-9) (14-31) in a Consolation Division game.

The Purple Riders rode to a 14-13 lead at the end of the 1st quarter.  The Golden Panthers offense and defense combined to score 18 points and hold Port Washington to but 6 markers (31-20) when intermission ended the second period of play.  As turnaround is fair play, in the 3rd stanza the Purple Riders offense and defense scored 15 points and held the Golden Panthers to just 4 points (35-35) locking up the scoreboard.

But was Stone Creeks time to shine in the 4th canto outscoring the Purple Riders by 4 points (50-46) sending Port to the showers and a trip home.  A 22-point barrage by Senior center Paul Day of Port Washington was not enough to stave off defeat as Senior center Verle Buehler and Junior forward Dick Kugler both score 17 points and Junior guard Hal Ridenour followed up with another 12 points for Stone Creek.
