43 - Strasburg Defense Holds-Back Stone Creek 38-30 (2-20-43)

DOVER - The Strasburg Tigers (2-0) (55-14) tightened their defense and had a decided height advantage which in the end was too much for the Stone Creek Panthers (1-1) (10-20) in the evening finals coming up with an 8 point cat-fight decision 38-30.  The Tigers muffled forward Bill Ridenour, the Panther scoring ace, in the 1st half to hold him to but 3 points, but Ridenour came back in the last half to post 10 points and carry off honors with 13 markers.

The 2 teams battled on even terms in the 1st quarter as the losers took an 8-6 margin, but Strasburg pulled away half way through the 2nd quarter and gained a 20-12 edge at halftime.  The victors added 4 points to their margin in the 3rd stanza which ended 32-20 and the Golden Panthers outscored their foes 10 to 6 in the final round.

The Yackey brothers, Senior center Carl and Junior guard Dallas, led the Bengals with 10 and 9 points, but forward Bob Roush was close behind with 8.  Carl Yackey was banished on personal fouls early in the 4th period and guard Turner and forward E. Kilchenmann were banished in the final minutes for Stone Creek.  Frank Cox of Dover and H.W. Staley of Coshocton officiated.
