43 - Saturday Night's 3-Game Wrap-up

DOVER - The 10 teams that started out in Tuscarawas County's 21st Annual Class B Basektball Tournament Friday night were reduced to 4 and the joust advanced to the semi-final stage as the 2nd 3-game program was presented at Memorial Hall Saturday night with the Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirates, Bolivar Cardinals and Strasburg Tigers registering victories and joining the Gnadenhutten Indians in the advanced bracket.

Tenth-Year Head Coach Earl Sundheimer's Sugarcreek-Shanesville team turned back the Tuscarawas Broncos 58-22, Bolivar nipped a surprisingly strong Baltic Eagles squad 44-39 and Strasburg downed the Stone Creek Golden Panthers 38-30.  Attendance for the 2 nights of the tournament totaled nearly 1,500 with 825 added to the 600 or more who saw Friday night's opening games.

Senior forward Warren Klink, stellar Bolivar performer and an All-State Class B Star, copped individual scoring honors for Saturday night's show by dumping 25 points through the hoop with 9 field goals and 7 free throws in the Bolivar-Baltic game.  His total was 2 short of the 27 tallied Friday night by Stone Creek's forward Bill Ridenour.
