60 - Gary Caviness Gains Point Title For 1959-60

DOVER - It's official now!  Statistics compiled by The Daily Reporter Sports Department shows 5-11 Senior Gary Caviness, of the Tuscarawas Broncos as Tuscarawas County's Class A leading point-marker during the 1959-60 regular season.  Caviness, in nailing down the title, succeeds Ron Bradley of the Gnadenhutten Indians.  The latter scored over 500 points.

Gary headed a group of 24 players from the county's 12 Class A schools who tallied over 200 points during the season.  The Broncos ace was pushed to the limit by the Garaway Pirates 5-10 Senior Koran Zehnder, who was only 7 points off the leading pace.  Senior Ron Breniser at 6-11 of the Midvale Blue Devils was 3rd, 5-11 Senior John Rice of the Baltic Eagles 4th and Junior Sandy Bonvechio of the Dennison St. Mary Blue Waves took 5th.

The County Champion Pirates were the leading Class A offensive unit in the county with 1,266 points, while St. Mary's held the distinction of permitting its 17 foes only 703 points.
