54 - Pirates Clubbers Gnaden 73-48 As Ray Hits 30 Points (2-25-54)

Paul Snyder is the Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirates 5-11 Senior Forward letterman.  Paul hasn't been a high scorer (he scored 3 points last night against the Gnadenhutten Indians) for the Pirates, but he has been a consistent all-around performer and a steady defensive man.

Glenn Hines is the 2nd half of the Gnadenhutten Indians' one-two punch.  The 5-8 Sophomore Guard first caught the fancy of Gnaden fans when he came into the Tuscarawas Broncos game at last year's tournament and turned in a top notch performance.  Since that time he has been a starter for the Tribe and has helped Senior Forward Sensation Carl Gilmore make Gnaden a dangerous club; although, last night's 3 points against the Pirates wasn't his best night.  His point total is in the high 300s to date.

DOVER - The Gnadenhutten Indians (0-2) (11-13) (49-44) was eliminated from the tournament easily by the Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirates (2-1) (57-39) by a score of 72-48.  Head Coach Bob Wise's Buccaneers set full sail right at the start and pulled away to a 5-0 lead in the 1st quarter of play in a Consolation Division game.  There wasn't much of a question as to the outcome as the Pirates moved to a 21-10 lead at the close of the initial period with everybody hitting.

Seniors, center Bill Ray's 16 points and forward Max Miller's 11 were the top performances in the 1st half for the Bucs as they stayed on top 39-20 at the intermission.  The Corsairs led 57-32 going into the stretch and matched the Indians point-for-point through the final canto.

Ray set the nets on fire with 30 points for Sugarcreek-Shanesville to chalk up the high individual performance in the tournament thus far, while Miller ended up with 14.  Senior forward Carl Gilmore was high scorer for the Tribe as he tossed in 7 field goals and 7 free throws for a total of 21 markers.
