56 - Second Round Of Tuscarawas Class B Tournament Tonight

DOVER - The high-scoring Port Washington Purple Riders and the smaller Baltic Eagles make their initial appearances tonight as the 34th Annual Tucarawas County Class B Basketball Tournament resume at Dover Memorial Hall after a one-night respite.  Head Coach Bray Toot's Purple Riders, who went over the 100-point mark on 4 occasions during the regular campaign, go against the Eagles in a regular bracket contest at approximately 8:45.

In the 1st game, a Consolation Division bracket fray, the Stone Creek Golden Panthers meet the Tuscarawas Broncos at 7:30 with the loser slated to drop out of the tournament.

The Riders of Port Washington won 12 of 18 regular season games and were 4th-seeded in the tourney drawings behind the Strasburg Tigers, Midvale Blue Devils and the Gnadenhutten Indians after finishing 4th in the County League.  On 4 occasions, all in loop competition, Port hit over the century mark including a 103-73 victory over the Flyers of Baltic late in the season.

Head Coach Jack Bellville's Baltic combine, with a 6-13 record, will enter the game as underdogs, but on the basis of the clean sweep of upsets on the 1st night of action, Port Washington is expected to encounter stiff opposition.

Junior 6-2 Nick Frank 267
Senior 6-1 Tom Jones 252
