33 - Sugarcreek-Shanesville Ousts Dundee 40-24 (2-24-33)

DOVER - The hard battle the Dundee Bulldogs (1-1) (7-11) was expected to give the Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirates (2-0) (12-7) did not materialize until the final quarter of their game.  The Pirates won by 16 points with the final score showing 40-24.  The Bulldogs staged a 14-point rally in the final period, while holding the Creekers to three.  With their floor game still the class of the tournament, Sugarcreek-Shanesville took a 14-2 lead in the opener and doubled their count to hold a 28-8 advantage at the half.  They rumbled through the 3rd period in much the same way, pushing their score to 37, while Dundee added but 2 points.

Norris, fleet Sugarcreek-Shanesville guard, again led his team's scoring.  He had 11 points, captured on 5 buckets and a foul shot.  Pirate Forward Boyd "Doc" Burkey, scoring demon and forward Bradley of Dundee were 2nd high with 10 points each.  Although defeated, the Bulldogs still had a chance to qualify for the Sectional meeting of next week, providing Sugarcreek-Shanesville and Strasburg reach the finals, Dundee, by virtue of the highest League standing of the defeated teams, will be the 3rd team holding over.
