31 - Mineral City Upsets Bolivar 22-19 (2-27-31)

DOVER - The 1st game of the tournament yesterday afternoon resulted in the 1st upset.  The Bolivar Cardinals (0-1) (10-7), regarded as one of the strong teams entered, fell before an under-rated Mineral City Tiger (1-0) (2-8) aggregation, 22-19.  The Mineral lads took an early lead and never fell behind; although, the Redbirds rallied at frequent enough intervals to keep the score close.  The great play of Myers, Mineral City center, who looped in shots from difficult angles and the floor work of Cardinal forward Hothem, featured Mineral's victory.

Forward Wolf was the only Bolivar regular in top form.  Poor shooting from the foul line cost the Redbirds many points.  They made only 3 out of 11 fouls.  Myers led the Tigers with 5 field goals and 2 foul tosses for 12 points.  The Cardinals were led by Wolf''s 7 points, 3 field goals and a foul shot.
