26 - Gnadenhutten Defeats Mineral City 20-14 (2-26-26)









Gnadenhutten Indians Forward F.Elmer Dichler "Dyke" gained scoring honors by leading the Indians to a 20-14 victory over the Mineral City Tigers by scoring 12 points (6 field goals).


DOVER - Early on Saturday morning the Gnadenhutten Indians (1-0) (3-2) picked up the 1st win of the 4th Annual Tuscarawas County Class B Basketball Tournament by downing the Mineral City Tigers (0-1) (1-4) 20-14.  Senior forward Elmer Dichler of Gnadenhutten led all scorers by dropping in 6 field goals for 12 points.  Sophomore center Clarence Uhrich followed up with 2 field goals for 4 points, while Junior forward Paul Kennedy dropped in a field goal for 2 points and Senior guard Russell Bennet hit 2 foul shorts for another 2 points.  Top scorer for the Tigers was Harris (guard)who swished 3 field goals and 3 foul shots for a total of 9 points.  Birk (forward) and Junior center Harry Hothem both hit a field goal for 2 points each.  Junior guard Tom Morris followed that with a foul shot for 1 point closing out the Mineral City scoring. No further information was provided on this game.
