DOVER - Port Washington was eliminated in the 1st game of the tournament.  A lopsided contest in which the Strasburg Tigers (1-0) defeated the Port Washington Eagles (0-1) by 25 points in the Tuscarawas County Class B Basketball Tournament at Legion Hall Friday afternoon.

Strasburg led all the way and Head Coach Young substituted freely in the last quarter.  The Tigers led at the half 22-5 after having held an advantage throughout the initial 2 periods.  The 1st quarter ended 14-3 with Strasburg on the long end, mainly because of the shootingof Junior Fred Mears and Senior Art Miller, Tiger forwards.  Senior center Wayne Myers consistently outjumped Junior center Jim Decker and Sophomore center Cliff Welsch of Port Washington.  Welsch replaced Decker in the 1st quarter after Decker had committed 3 personal fouls.  Port's biggest fault in the 1st half was failure to shoot.  Time after time the ball was worked into close range, but Port was held back by defensive men.  Port's only score in the 2nd quarter came just before the period was up when Junior forward Earl Wheeland dropped in a field goal from the corner.  The 3rd period ended 31-9 with Strasburg still in front.  Wheeland of the Eagles was ejected from the game shortly after the start of the 2nd half on personal fouls.
