DOVER - The Dundee Bulldogs (1-2) (7-17) (30-47) were yepping loudly at the Strasburg Tigers (2-1) (19-4) (83-22) last night and the Bulldogs gave it all they had before bowing out to the Tigers after losing 3  of the 4 players who started the game on personal fouls.  The Bengals, playing without the services of Sophomore forward Jerry Haswell, went all the way with 5 players and Strasburg knew they were in a battle before they walked off the floor.  The Tigers opened up with Big Sophomore center Jerry (Goose) Von Kaenel and Senior forward Jim Weinmann leading the attack and took a 14-13 1st quarter lead.

With the Pups slowing the game down in the 2nd frame, the Tigers came in and ran the edge up to 5 points, 27-22 at intermission.  Sophomore guard Bob Baker and Senior guard Weldon Flynn were the 2 whirling dervishes in the 3rd stanza as they tallied 17 points between them to clip off a little of the Bengal edge.  Flynn continued his onslaught in the 4th canto and brought Dundee within striking distance and then deadlocked the score at 53-53 with 3:50 left to play.  Senior forward Max Bonifant pulled Strasburg out in front to stay 56-53, but Baker added another long set shot at 1:35 to bring the Bulldogs within one point 56-55 before the Tigers, in control of the ball, cashed in on 3 field goals to clinch the win.

Weinman and Goose Von Kaenel each scored 17 points for the Strasburg with Bonifant and Junior guard Eldon (Zeke) Mullett adding 12 each.  Flynn was high for Dundee with 18 points, Baker had 14 and Senior forward Dick Fruchey 10.  Dundee lost 3 of its starters via the personal foul route.

Strasburg won a League game 56-33 at Strasburg during the regular season.
