DOVER - In the 1st Consolation game of 1939, the Bolivar Cardinals (1-1) (22-17) had no trouble downing the Mineral City Tigers (0-2) (9-22) 34-20 in the Annual Tuscarawas County Class B Basketball Tournament.

Forwards Senior Justin Huth and Paul Burris paced the Cardinals as they put the clamps on the Tigers of Mineral City in the 2nd and 4th periods to win going-away.  Bolivar led Mineral City in the 1st quarter by a mere 2 points...5-3, and would lead the entire game.  By intermission the Red Birds of Bolivar had extended their lead and led 16-5.  Both teams scored just 6 points apiece in the 3rd stanza with a Cardinal lead of 21-11.  The Tigers began hitting the hoops and collected 9 markers in the 4th quarter; however, the Cardinals never let up canning another 13 points to wrap up the game.

Huth and Burris of Bolivar shared game honors hitting double figures with 11 points each with both downing 5 field goals and a free throw.  Mineral City, in a team effort, collected 4 points each by forward Dick Carpenter, center Wil Bailey and guards Fred Fishley and Alex Lindsey.
