39 - 17th Annual Tuscarawas County Class B Basketball Tournament (1939)







DOVER - Seven trophies, emblematic of leadership in some phase or other in the county's Class B Basketball League will be presented at the conclusion of the League's Annual Tournament at Menorial Hall.  The tournament, opening tomorrow night with a program of 4 games beginning at 7PM, concludes with the qualifying of 3 teams next weekend for the Sectional Tournament at the Hall March 3-4.

Trophies to be presented following the county tournament are for the tournament winner, runner-up, League Champion, Consolation winner, sportsmanship during the season and individual medals for tournament and League Championship winners.  Strasburg High School has already won the League Championship and will receive the E. Fienberg and Co. trophy and the individual medals awarded by the Godfrey Electric Co.

The Daily Reporter trophy goes to the winner of the tournament, the Sanitry Milk Co. trophy to the runner-up, the S. Toomey Co. trophy to the winner in the Consolation Division, The Daily Times trophy to the sportsmanship winner and the Walter E. Lieser Inc. individual medals to the members of the team winning the tournament.  The trophies will be on display at Ress Bros. cigar store on Tuscarawas Avenue before the tournament.
