26 - Bolivar Rolls Over Philo 36-20 (3-12-26)

CAMBRIDGE - The Bolivar Cardinals, runners-up in the Tuscarawas County Class B Basketball Tournament, won their 1st game in the Eastern District Class B Basketball Tournament in Cambridge Friday afternoon, when they defeated the Philo Electrics 36-20 in a fast contest that saw them leading every inch of the game.  Head Coach Walker's aggreation , which upset the Strasburg Tigers two weeks ago and showed themselves to be a basketball team, are well liked at the Cambridge tourney and are given favorites to win from the Toronto Red Knights when they clash on Saturday.

Philo; although, not a formidable opponent, displayed teamwork at some times that threaten to fake the Cardinals out of the lead.  It was teamwork and passing which Coach Walker has drilled into his men that pulled them through in the initial contest.  Senior forward Harry Notter led Bolivar with 9 field goals and 2 foul shots for 20 points.  Junior forward John Reiger, Senior guard Maurice Helwick and Senior center Randall Gerber followed up with 6, 5 and 4 points.  Krier led Philo with 10 points.
