45 - Elmer Linard and Rich Bonvechio Lead Scorers







DOVER - Richard (Rich) Bonvechio of the Tuscarawas Broncos and Elmer Linard of the Port Washington Purple Riders were the leading scorers in the 23rd Annual Tuscarawas County Class B Basketball Tournament which closed at Memorial Hall on Saturday night.

Bonvechio, playing in 5 games as his team won the Consolation Division title, scored 96 points for an average of 19.4 per game.  Linard notched 32 points against the Dundee Bulldogs when his team was upset in the semi-finals to gain the best individual game mark and he caged 10 points in the 1st half of the game with the Broncos.  He had to retire from the Tuscarawas scrap because of a leg injury and did not participate in his team's 2nd game.  His 42 points in the 2 games in which he appeared gave him an average of 21 per tilt.

Ernie Raber - Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirates - 61 Points - 4 Games - 15.2 Average
Max Regula - Baltic Eagles - 43 Points - 3 Games - 14.3 Average
Doyle Shumaker - Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirates - 56 Points 4 Games - 14.0 Average
Dave Stevenson - Midvale Blue Devils - 55 Points - 4 Games - 13.17 Average
Don Neidenthal - Strasburg Tigers - 40 Points - 3 Games - 13.3 Average
John Vesco - Tuscarawas Broncos 60 Points - 5 Games  - 12.0 Average
