29 - Sacred Heart Drops Bolivar 29-25 (3-2-29)

DOVER - Sacred Heart of Coshocton eliminated the Bolivar Cardinals (4-1) in a thrilling up-hill battle in the 2nd round.  In the 9th game, the parochial boys used the same style of play that they displayed to top the Newcomerstown Trojans earlier in the day, coming back strong in the last quarter to score 17 points to Bolivar's 4 and clinch the melee.

The Cardinals started off with a 5-4 edge over the Catholics in the 1st quarter and increased their lead  to 17-10 at halftime and 21-12 at three quarters.  Then in the final period, Coshocton pulled together sinking goal after goal, while Bolivar fought vainly to stop their mad rush,  With 1 minute to  play and the score at 25-all, Kenney, Sacred Heart guard, dropped 2 fielders through the nets to put the game on ice.  Then with but 3 seconds left, Bolivar called time out for the 3rd time that period, and when play resumed the game, the beaten birds launched a desperate attempt for victory before the gun announced their elimination.

Every member of the Bolivar crew played in top form Saturday night, but the even scoring machine of the Catholics proved too much for them.  Pete Saad, forward, was Coshocton's outstanding player.  Shulty, Cardinal guard, was high point man of the game with 13 points.
